about

Cam Consequence's new label, Etcht Records is sure to be a continuation of what's already begun for this exciting producer. There's an intellectual curiosity that questions and opposes what we should expect in these anticipated debut tracks. It's that sense of the unknown that makes this an exciting, inquisitorial listen.
McLaren presents questions. There's a sense of reaching in the juxtaposition or conflict between melodic gentleness and the force of the unknown that first butts heads in, LYON, where we are shaken awake and innocently marched forward, only to be left dangling at the edge. It is that sudden cessation, the technique of knowing when to stop that leaves you with an inexplicable yearning for more.
This is McLaren's strength, his ability to lead you through corridors and passages of exploration, and just when he's got you sitting comfortably cocooned in understanding, a loose thread dangles off in another direction and we veer off with it.
OERASER, contrasts strongly with LYON in an uneasy tap dance of impatience that lingers over and contrasts with a hopeful melody, but in the end, the incessant tapping distorts, grabs more space, the melody lost to an uneasy meltdown of frazzled ideas. A track of unexpected disquiet.
MODU1, becomes a heeling balm, a transition from OERASER, where a sense of rebuilding is taking place. The landscape is vast, the expanse far reaching and yet there is a feeling of McLaren leading us by the hand through moments of comfort and unease, a forward movement that crescendos in uncertainty, but hope.
RESSED, becomes an easy breath. The journey has hit a destination, and there's some satisfaction in believing that you have made it somewhere
